Chad Boulter – Learning How to Teach

Snowboarding is a fun and exciting hobby that will keep you active and fit. It can also be a great career if you are passionate and talented enough. Many people think going pro is one of the only ways to make a career out of the sport but you can also try teaching others. You can start your own business and teach independently or work for a lodge or resort. Chad Boulter is a certified snowboarding instructor and loves sharing his passion for the sport with others. He finds satisfaction when a client masters a new trick or even gets up on the board for the first time. Chad says it takes him back to his first time on a board.

But you don’t have to be a certified teacher to help a friend or family member get on a board. Snowboarding can be a great activity for kids and teens and they may feel more comfortable learning the basics from someone they know and trust. Start small and slow to build their confidence and don’t push them too hard. Make sure to keep up words of encouragement while offers technique corrections and examples so they have a good foundation to build on.

Start by having them try on and get familiar with the gear they will be wearing and using. It can be jarring for someone to be in the snowboard binding and boots if they are not used to it. Make sure their equipment is fitted properly so they are comfortable and it won’t lead to problems once they get out on the slopes.

Chad Boulter loves working to help people learn the sport he is still excited about after five years.
